Advanced Institute for Integrated Research on Livestock and Animal Sciences (AIIRLIVAS), affiliated with TANUVAS

The B.Tech. Food Technology programme at the Advanced Institute for Integrated Research on Livestock and Animal Sciences (AIIRLIVAS), affiliated with Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (TANUVAS), has been newly introduced to develop competent professionals in the field of food processing and value addition. The programme aims to meet the increasing demand for trained food technologists in the rapidly growing food processing sector.

The curriculum is designed in accordance with TANUVAS academic regulations and industry requirements, providing a strong foundation in basic sciences, engineering principles and core food technology subjects. Students are trained in areas such as food chemistry, food microbiology, food engineering, meat and poultry processing, dairy technology, food packaging, quality assurance, and food safety standards. The programme includes extensive laboratory work, pilot-scale processing and industrial training to ensure practical exposure.

AIIRLIVAS is proposed to be equipped with modern laboratories, processing units, and experienced faculty members to facilitate effective learning. The programme also encourages innovation, research and entrepreneurship, enabling students to develop new food products and technologies.

Graduates of the B.Tech. Food Technology programme will have diverse career opportunities in food processing industries, quality control laboratories, research institutions, government agencies and start-ups. They may also pursue higher studies and research in specialized areas of food science and technology.
